Although it sounds great getting a web hosting service for free, is it really all it seems? But no matter how wonderful this offer seems, free web hosting has many disadvantages.

The free web hosting providers still need to make some money as they cannot really provide bandwidth for free. Many of these hosting providers make their money by placing advertising on your website. You will have no choice over the types of ads placed on your website. You will not have any say if these ads are unsuitable. Without making any money from your website, a free web hosting service would not be able to survive too long.
- Downtime is a big issue with these web hosting providers and they tend to be down more than up. If you were trying to make money from your site, then continuous downtime would be disastrous.
- You are unlikely to get good service support with free web hosting. There is not normally a large business behind free web hosts, whose main focus is on advertising.
- You will more than likely not get a generous amount of bandwidth and there will almost certainly be restrictions on the uploading of some files. Some services insist that you use their templates for your web pages. This could seriously limit your ability to attract visitors. Your site could turn people away as it will more than likely look very amaterurish.
- You will not have access to extra services, such as email, that you would get with paid hosting.
